Spicy Pumpkin Bread
from Joan Woodruff

2 cups sugar
1 cups shortening
3 eggs
2 cups pumpkin
3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 cup pecans or walnuts
2 tbsp water

Blend sugar, shortening and eggs. Add pumpkin and water. Add dry ingredients. Mix together. Add nuts. Bake in greased loaf pans in preheated oven at 315 degrees for 75 minutes. Cool before slicing and serving.  Feeds about ten.
